Vision Screening vs. Comprehensive Eye Exam
Vision screening is a short exam performed to check visual acuity; it is not designed to diagnose what is wrong with your eyes. Visual acuity is the clarity or sharpness of your vision.
A comprehensive eye exam is one of the healthiest and easiest ways you can do to take care of your eyes and vision. These exams are vital in diagnosing probable or onset of eye problems. Eye exams offer profound benefits including:
- Identifying potential health risks or health problems
- Establishing an eye health baseline
- Monitoring of eye or vision changes
- Monitoring of prescription glasses or contact lenses
When to have your eyes checked?
Regular eye exams are an important step to keep your eyes strong and protected from any diseases. The frequency of eye exam may vary, depending on a person’s age and health condition.
- Children’s eyes should be checked on a regular basis. The recommended vision screening for children ages 3 to 5 is at least once.
- People with diabetes should have annual eye exam
- People who have higher risks of glaucoma should have annual dilated eye exam
Adults are at higher risks of eye diseases as they age. That’s why the American Academy of Ophthalmology recommends for adults ages 40 and above to get eye exam, whether they see signs of eye problems or not.
If you experience any of the following eye problem, be sure to have your eyes checked.
- Decreased vision
- Double vision
- Eye pain or eye strain
- Frequent headaches
- Eye Infection
- Sudden blurry vision
- Floaters
- Circles or halos around lights
- Flashes of light
Chiropractic Services
Chiropractic services are most commonly recommended when a person experiences musculoskeletal conditions involving the spine and related joints, particularly low back pain, neck pain, and certain types of headaches. Individuals with acute or chronic back pain that is mechanical in nature (pain related to movement or posture), reduced spinal mobility, or discomfort following minor injuries such as strains or whiplash may benefit from an evaluation by a chiropractor. Chiropractic care is generally not recommended as a first-line treatment for systemic diseases, severe neurological deficits, fractures, infections, cancer-related pain, or inflammatory arthritis unless coordinated with medical care.
Evidence-based research shows that spinal manipulation and related manual therapies can provide modest but clinically meaningful improvements in pain and function for acute and chronic low back pain. There is also moderate evidence supporting chiropractic care types of neck pain and cervicogenic headaches, particularly when combined with exercise and patient education. Beyond pain relief, chiropractic care may offer health benefits such as improved mobility, better physical function, and reduced reliance on pain medications, including opioids, in some populations.

Acupuncture Services
Acupuncture is recommended most often for people dealing with persistent pain that has not fully responded to conventional treatments or for those seeking non-medication options. It is commonly used for chronic low back pain, knee osteoarthritis, neck and shoulder pain, and recurrent headaches, as well as for symptom control in postoperative recovery and cancer care. Many guidelines position acupuncture as an option to consider after initial conservative care or alongside standard medical treatment, particularly when reducing medication use or avoiding side effects is a priority. It is not intended to replace urgent medical care or disease-specific treatments but rather to complement them.
From an evidence-based perspective, acupuncture has been shown to produce small to moderate improvements in pain intensity and physical functioning for several chronic pain conditions. Research comparing acupuncture with no treatment or usual care consistently shows better outcomes for pain relief.
In addition to pain control, acupuncture has demonstrated benefits for managing specific symptoms that affect quality of life. Acupuncture is considered a low-risk intervention when delivered by properly trained practitioners. Overall, it is best viewed as a supportive, patient-centered therapy that can enhance symptom management and functional well-being within an integrated healthcare approach.
