Addiction Medicine & Chemical Dependency

At Hurtt Family Health Clinic we value providing team-based interdisciplinary care for our patients. We are proud to include addiction medicine and chemical dependency services integrated within our primary care clinics. Patients who may be struggling with an addiction or dependence to a substance no longer need to go to a separate addiction clinic where care is sometimes less accessible and stigmatized, but can receive addiction services alongside their primary care, dental, optometry, and therapy services all at the same location! Our patients are supported by a compassionate and competent team including physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, therapists, addiction recovery coordinator, and support staff.

Our nation is currently facing its worst drug overdose epidemic in history with overdose deaths now surpassing 100,000 each year. Many of these overdoses are from fentanyl and other new synthetic opioids that is far more addictive and deadly than previous opioids. After COVID-19, we also have experienced disturbing rises in alcohol-related deaths and rapidly climbing overdoses amongst communities of color. Today, 1 in 6 Americans struggle with a substance use disorder. Yet only 1 in 10 people with an addiction ever obtains addiction medicine services. We know for underserved communities and people of color that addiction services are difficult to access and sparse. Orange County is no exception. In fact, Orange County has the 8th highest fentanyl-related overdose death rate in California.  This is why our team at Hurtt Family Health Clinic believes in providing quality addiction services that treat people with dignity and compassion during their most difficulty time.
