Benjamin Portillo, AMFT

Biography

I am an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist with a diverse clinical background, including experience as a mental health specialist in a crisis youth shelter and as a therapist at a nonprofit Christian counseling center. I earned my Bachelors of Arts degree in Psychology from California State University, Fullerton, and my Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Vanguard University of Southern California. I have experience working with individuals across the lifespan, from children to older adults. As an AMFT, I recognize that individuals face wide range of challenges throughout life—from everyday stressors to more significant concerns—and I am committed to supporting clients’ mental health, growth, and overall wellbeing through compassionate and collaborative care.

Practice Philosophy

As an AMFT, I am rooted in creating a safe, respectful, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel truly heard. I believe therapy works best when it is collaborative, strengths based, and tailored to each person unique experiences and goals. I value authenticity, cultural humility, and compassion, and I strive to meet clients where they are without pressure or assumptions. My goal is to support clients in building insight, resilience, and practical skills that empower meaningful and lasting change.
