Biography
I graduated from California State University Fullerton with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a minor in Criminal Justice. My special interest in the cross-sections of mental health, the justice system, and advocacy and policy for underserved communities led me to pursue and obtain a Master of Social Work degree with a specialization in integrated health from California State University, Long Beach. I have had the privilege of earning experience with youth and adults in residential psychiatric facilities, incarcerated youth and adults, foster and non-minor dependent youth, commercially and sexually exploited youth, and youth and adults with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
Practice Philosophy
My practice philosophy is centered around compassion, self-determination and collaboration. I am deeply privileged to walk alongside my clients to serve them in the capacity that they can manage by incorporating evidence-based practices, cultural considerations, and empathy. Therapy can look and feel differently to each person, and I believe it is an important and integral piece of the therapeutic relationship to understand what a client needs and support them by building self-advocacy and empowerment. My personal and professional background considers systemic barriers that can result in mental health challenges, as well as the resilience and hope that access to mental health treatment and support can foster.
